Controlling a number of RCS / SIREN or VAT in France

How can I make sure that a company's identification number is valid ?

SIREN / SIRET
or EU VAT N°

The SIREN number is found in all of these identifiers..
For the d'Ormane Agency for example :

SIRET number:
Eu VAT number :

B652 027 319   (the lettre may be A, B, C, D)
652 027 319    (unique N° given by the INSEE)
652.027.319.00019 (with the 5 figures of the establishment)
FR48652027319       (FR + VAT key + SIREN)


You can check any one of these identifiers : RCS, SIREN or SIRET. You must enter *ALL* of the characters of the chosen identifier as indicated in the right hand column. You can enter the numbers with or without spaces or periods. You can also enter the EU VAT number.
